Charles Goodyear was born on December 29, 1800 in New Haven, Connecticut. He died July 1, 1860. He married Clarissa Beecher. He Became a father of 6 kids. The reason why he is famous is because he invented vulcanization which is sulfur-impregnated rubber that stops rubber from melting in hot weather and stops it from freezing and keeps it strong in the winter. He discovered that in 1839.

Goodyear now has almost 97,000 associates around the world.

Goodyear also operates airships in Europe, Spirit of Europe I and Spirit of Europe II, and a Latin American blimp, The Spirit of the Americas.

Our winged-foot trademark was inspired by a newel-post statuette of the Roman god Mercury in the home of Goodyear founder Frank Seiberling.
